What is Google I/O 2017?

Google started I/O as an outdoor developer festival in 2008. It is returning to the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California for the second year in a row. “I/O” refers to the computing concept of “Input/Output.” The event usually features workshops and lessons on app development and software integration, with a focus on Google’s own open-source platforms. In addition to the main conference in California, developers around the world can watch via livestreaming and participate in I/O Extended sessions.

When is Google I/O 2017?

Google I/O 2017 begins May 17 and will run until May 19th, 2017. Google will host I/O 2017 outdoors at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California this year. If you can’t make it to California you can watch the livestream below!

Themes of Google I/O 2017

  • Platforms – One major theme of this years Google I/O conference is Platforms. These platforms connect us to billions of users around the world.
  • Building on Mobile -Another main theme this year will be the infrastructure and services to take mobile apps to a whole other level.

  • Beyond Mobile – We’re excited about this years focus on expanding to new interfaces and pushing the possibilities. The Internet of Things will be a main topic, as it relates to Android and wearable tech.
