Questions about KMTel
Can I keep my phone number when I leave KMTel?
Yes. Federal number portability rules let you take a working number to a new carrier. KMTel cannot refuse the transfer or charge you to release the number.
Should I cancel KMTel before I port my number out?
No. Cancel first and the number is released, which ends your right to move it. Keep the KMTel line active until the new carrier confirms the port completed.
How long does a port out from KMTel take?
Wireline and VoIP transfers run longer than wireless. Plan on a few business days once KMTel has validated the account number and PIN.
Does KMTel run on its own towers?
Not confirmed. KMTel has not published which host network carries its traffic.
Does KMTel charge a fee to release my number?
No. A carrier cannot bill you for porting a number out. You may still owe a final bill or an unpaid device balance, and that is separate from the transfer itself.
What happens if the KMTel account number is wrong?
The port request is rejected and the new carrier resubmits it. The number stays on KMTel in the meantime, so nothing is lost — it only costs time.
