Indigo Wireless is no longer in service. It stopped selling mobile service to retail customers in 2023. Here is what that means for an Indigo Wireless number.

Account Number

There is no Indigo Wireless account number to retrieve. Indigo told the FCC it had decided to cease providing mobile service to retail customers in 2023, and transferred its 850 MHz and PCS spectrum to AT&T.

Transfer PIN

Indigo Wireless no longer issues transfer PINs. Its roughly 400 retail customers were told to move to a provider of their own choosing rather than being transferred as a group, so there is no successor to request one from.

Indigo Wireless left the retail mobile business in 2023. Its spectrum went to AT&T, but its customers were not migrated as a block, so no single carrier holds former Indigo lines today. If you are trying to move a number that was once on Indigo, start with whoever bills you for it now.

Your number and your rights

Number portability is a federal right, not a carrier policy. It applies only while a line is active — once service ends and the number is released, there is nothing left to transfer.

If you are setting up a new line

Indigo Wireless is gone, so there is no transfer to make. If you are choosing a carrier now, start from the network that covers your address rather than the brand on the bill.

Questions about Indigo Wireless

Can I still port my number out of Indigo Wireless?

No. Indigo Wireless stopped providing retail mobile service in 2023, so there is no active account to transfer from. A number stays portable only while the line is live; once service ends and the number is released, portability ends with it.

What happened to Indigo Wireless?

It told the FCC it had decided to cease providing mobile service to retail customers, and transferred its 850 MHz and PCS spectrum holdings to AT&T. The decision was reported in July 2023.

Who holds my old Indigo Wireless number now?

If you moved the line to another carrier before Indigo stopped, that carrier holds it and issues the account number and transfer PIN. If the line went dark with the shutdown, the number was released and is no longer yours to move.

Did Indigo Wireless run on its own towers?

No. It rode on a host network it never named publicly. We do not guess at a host network no provider published.
