Here is how to get your Gen Mobile account number and transfer PIN, and what to do with them when you move your number to another carrier.

Account Number

Gen Mobile does not publish where your account number appears. Call Customer Care at (833) 528-1380 and ask for the account number used for a number transfer. Porting guides published by other carriers report that Gen Mobile uses the phone’s IMEI as the account number; dial *#06# to read it, and have Customer Care confirm before you submit it.

Transfer PIN

Ask Customer Care for the port-out PIN in the same call. Gen Mobile’s own FAQ uses that term for the PIN a new carrier needs, and it publishes no self-service path for retrieving it. Keep the line active until the port completes.

Gen Mobile is now a division of Boost SubscriberCo L.L.C., the EchoStar subscriber company behind Boost Mobile, and its site says so in the footer. Gen Mobile’s port-out rules are its own, though: a Boost Mobile account number or PIN does not apply to a Gen Mobile line.

Which network Gen Mobile uses

Gen Mobile describes its coverage as “99% nationwide coverage on an award-winning network” and “one of America’s largest 5G networks” without naming the network. Its parent, Boost Mobile, moved to a single AT&T host in late 2025, but Gen Mobile has not said whether its own lines followed. We do not guess, so this record is classified as host network not recorded until Gen Mobile publishes it.

If you are leaving, find the real network first: dial *#06# for the IMEI and run it through the destination carrier’s compatibility check rather than assuming the phone will work on a particular network.

Who runs Gen Mobile

Gen Mobile is a prepaid brand sold with no annual contract, no credit check and no early termination fee. It operates as a division of Boost SubscriberCo L.L.C., which places it inside the EchoStar family alongside Boost Mobile. The brand keeps its own website, app, plans and Customer Care line.

Gen Mobile Contact Info

  • Customer Care: (833) 528-1380, the number Gen Mobile publishes in its own FAQ
  • Website: genmobile.com, with a Contact Us page for care agents
  • Device unlocking: Gen Mobile publishes a How to Unlock Your Phone guide and requires a phone brought from another carrier to be unlocked by that carrier first

How to port your number away from Gen Mobile

  1. Keep the line active. Do not let the prepaid plan lapse or cancel it before the port completes.
  2. Call (833) 528-1380 and ask for your account number and a port-out PIN. Say that you are transferring the number to another carrier.
  3. Give the new carrier the account number, the port-out PIN, the zip code on the Gen Mobile account, and the account holder’s name exactly as Gen Mobile has it.
  4. Wait for the new SIM to activate. The Gen Mobile line ends once the number moves; prepaid balances are not refunded, so time the port near the end of a cycle if you can.

Why a Gen Mobile port gets rejected

The usual causes are an account number that is not the one Gen Mobile has on file, often because the phone number was submitted instead of the IMEI-style account number, or a port-out PIN that was never issued. Call Customer Care, have the agent confirm both, and resubmit with the name and zip code exactly as they appear on the account.
