Here is how to get your Tello account number and transfer PIN, and what to do with them when you move your number to another carrier.
Account Number
Log in to your Tello account in a web browser, not the My Tello app. Open the Number Transfer tab. In Port Out, tick the box and click Retrieve Port Out Information. Your Tello Account Number appears there.
Transfer PIN
Use the same Retrieve Port Out Information button in the Number Transfer tab on the Tello website. It shows a 5-digit Port Out PIN used only to authorize the transfer. The PIN is valid for 7 days. Generate a new one if it expires.

You need to call Tello to get your account number. Tello doesn’t use pass-codes. Use any 4-digit number if the operator you are porting to requires a pass-code. We recommend using the last 4-digits of the customer phone number.

Check coverage before you port
Tello runs on the T-Mobile network, so the coverage you get at your address is T-Mobile coverage. Check it on T-Mobile’s own coverage map before you start the transfer.
Your right to keep the number is federal, not a carrier policy. The rule is the FCC’s: Portability: Keeping Your Phone Number When Changing Service Providers.

Tello, based in Georgia, has filed with the FCC under the same registration since 2015 — 11 years. The customer-inquiries line on file with the FCC is 1-678-528-0398. It is a separate contact from the support number above, and worth trying if that line goes nowhere. Checked September 22, 2026 against the FCC Form 499 filer database.

Questions about Tello
Can I keep my phone number when I leave Tello?
Yes. Federal number portability rules let you take a working number to a new carrier. Tello cannot refuse the transfer or charge you to release the number.
Should I cancel Tello before I port my number out?
No. Cancel first and the number is released, which ends your right to move it. Keep the Tello line active until the new carrier confirms the port completed.
How long does a port out from Tello take?
A simple wireless transfer usually completes within one business day once the new carrier submits the correct Tello account number and transfer PIN.
Does Tello run on its own towers?
No. Tello is a reseller riding on the T-Mobile network.
