Account Number
There is no account-number field in the TextNow app or web account. TextNow issues it through a support chat: open the purple chat bubble at the bottom of any Help Center page and ask for your port-out information.
Transfer PIN
Same route. TextNow publishes no self-service PIN generator, no PIN length and no portal screen – an agent supplies whatever the new carrier needs during the chat.
How to get your TextNow port-out information
Chat is the only channel. Agents are available 10:00AM to 5:30PM Eastern, every day; outside those hours you get a bot.
- Open any page in the TextNow Help Center.
- Click the purple chat bubble at the bottom of the page.
- Ask for your port-out information – the account number and any PIN your new carrier needs.
- Give the details to your new carrier and submit the transfer there, never at TextNow.
- Do not delete your TextNow account until the number has moved. TextNow states the port has to be completed before a deletion request.
Before you start the transfer
- Plan around the support window. Chat only, 10:00AM – 5:30PM Eastern. There is no phone number. Needing the credentials on a Sunday evening can cost you a day.
- Not every TextNow number may be portable. TextNow’s own wording is conditional – “if you are eligible to port out” – and it does not publish the eligibility rules. Ask in the chat before you commit to a switch date.
- Deleting the account destroys the number along with your messages and voicemail. Port first, delete second.
- Keep the line active until the transfer completes. Inactive numbers get reclaimed.
TextNow contact information
- No phone number. TextNow publishes no customer service line.
- Chat: the purple bubble on any TextNow Help Center page
- Live agent hours: 10:00AM – 5:30PM Eastern, seven days a week
- Outside those hours: a support bot answers; port-out credentials require a live agent
Common questions about leaving TextNow
What towers does TextNow use?
TextNow does not name its host network anywhere on its own site – its pages say only “nationwide network.” Independent trackers as of 2026 identify it as T-Mobile, which matches its history: TextNow ran on Sprint and moved to T-Mobile after the merger. At least one coverage tracker lists AT&T instead, so we are not stating it as fact. If you need certainty before switching, ask in the TextNow chat. To compare carriers by confirmed network, use our carrier and network directory.
What network does TextNow use?
Unconfirmed by TextNow. See above – the weight of third-party evidence points to T-Mobile, but TextNow itself will not say, so we are not printing it as a verified fact the way we do for carriers that publish it.
How long is a TextNow port-out PIN good for?
TextNow publishes no expiry window, and no reliable third-party source states one. Request the information immediately before submitting the transfer.
Can TextNow take my number away?
Yes. TextNow reclaims inactive numbers and states there is no hard-and-fast inactivity limit – each account is weighted by usage. A brand-new number expires within 24 hours if never used. The paid Lock In Number and Ad Free+ subscriptions protect a number from recycling.
Do I have to delete my TextNow account to switch?
No, and you must not do it first. TextNow states the porting process has to be completed before you submit a deletion request. Deleting immediately destroys your access to the account, the messages, the voicemail and the number.
Does TextNow have a customer service phone number?
No. Support is live chat only, through the purple bubble on any Help Center page, with agents available 10:00AM to 5:30PM Eastern.
