Transfer PIN
Google Fi issues the transfer PIN. There is no separate Project Fi PIN.
Project Fi is now Google Fi. Google renamed the service in November 2018. It launched on April 22, 2015 using the Sprint and T-Mobile networks, later added US Cellular, and today runs on T-Mobile in the United States. Google Fi and US Cellular ended their partnership in February 2023.
What network does Google Fi use?
T-Mobile. The Sprint side disappeared when T-Mobile shut down the Sprint network in 2022, and the US Cellular partnership ended in February 2023, leaving T-Mobile as the only US network behind Google Fi.
Before you move your number
Get your account number and transfer PIN from your Google Fi account while the line is still active, then hand both to the carrier you are moving to. Keep the line open until the transfer completes.
Is Project Fi still a thing?
Only as an old name. The service is Google Fi.
Did Google Fi ever run on Sprint?
Yes. Sprint was one of the two original networks at launch in 2015. Sprint’s network was shut down in 2022.
Is Google Fi still in service?
No. Google Fi no longer operates as a carrier — it was renamed.
Where did Google Fi customers go?
Accounts moved to Google Fi. If your line still works, it is a Google Fi account now, and that is who you request an account number and transfer PIN from.
Check coverage before you port
Google Fi runs on the T-Mobile network, so check the T-Mobile coverage map for the addresses where you live and work before you port.
