Last updated October 3, 2026

Sprint postpaid service ended. T-Mobile holds those accounts, and the Sprint network was shut down in 2022. Here is where Sprint Postpaid numbers went and who holds the account number and transfer PIN now.

Account Number

There is no Sprint account number to retrieve. Sprint is gone. If the line moved to T-Mobile, ask T-Mobile for the account number.

Transfer PIN

Request the transfer PIN from T-Mobile. Sprint has not issued one since the brand was retired in 2020.

Sprint is gone. T-Mobile closed its merger with Sprint on April 1, 2020, retired the Sprint brand in August 2020, and shut down the Sprint network in 2022. There is no Sprint account number to get. If you had a Sprint postpaid line, it is a T-Mobile line today, and you move it using T-Mobile’s process.

How do I get my account number and transfer PIN?

Your line is a T-Mobile account now, so you need a T-Mobile account number and a T-Mobile Transfer PIN. The steps are on our T-Mobile postpaid page.

Do not cancel first. Cancelling a line before the transfer finishes releases the phone number. Once it is released you may not get it back. Start the port at the new carrier and let the old line close itself.

Can I still port a number out of Sprint?

Not from Sprint. Sprint no longer operates. If the number is still active, it is active on T-Mobile, and you port it out of T-Mobile.

Do the old Sprint customer service numbers still work?

No. Those lines belonged to Sprint Corporation and no longer reach a Sprint support team. Contact T-Mobile instead.

What happened to Sprint prepaid?

Sprint’s prepaid brands went to DISH Network on July 1, 2020. See our Boost Mobile page.

Check coverage before you port

Sprint Postpaid runs on the T-Mobile network, so check the T-Mobile coverage map for the addresses where you live and work before you port.

Your right to keep the number is federal, not a carrier policy. The rule is the FCC’s: Portability: Keeping Your Phone Number When Changing Service Providers.
